Just practicing.

An Apple

Drawing the outline of an apple is easy. Filling the outline with watercolor is difficult for me. Perhaps I should paint an apple a day until I get it right.

Oh, That Feels Good

It's a wooden back massager! I drew the wheels all wonky, but you can get the idea. It was originally purchased because it was interesting, and it works much better than expected.

Daffodils Are Out

The daffodils have been doing a wonderful job of decorating our grounds. Tulips should appear shortly.

Since I have been blessed with a black thumb, the best I can do is enjoy and appreciate the work of others.

EDM #125 - Draw a Bird

Birds are fun to paint, and I should do more. They're great practice for both drawing and watercolor. Besides, they're cute!

EDM #124 - Draw Something Yellow

A yellow rain slicker should fit the bill. My rain slicker is red, but I don't have red galoshes to match.

EDM #123 - Draw a Bell

This little, ceramic bell is a wedding reception favor. The wedding ceremony was in a Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and I was awed with the beauty and pageantry.

EDM #122 - Shade

Man-made shade is the only shade to be found at the beach. I once lived on an island and walked the beach almost every day.

EDM #121 - Coins

Coins as a child meant candy! Desserts were always served at home, but enough money to buy a candy bar was a special treat.

EDM #120 - Draw a Flashlight

There were once numerous flashlights in my home, and all but this one have traveled to another dimension. That's the only rational explanation I have for the disappearances over the years!

EDM #117 & EDM #118

EDM #117 - Something Round
For something round I chose a clown's nose.

While drawing the clown's hair, I realized I also had
EDM #118 - Hair

It's nice to knock off two EDM Challenges with one drawing!

My 2x0 K&E Rapidograph kept gushing ink during the drawing. The pen was purchased in the 70's, and it's the kind with the black barrel and cap. It is time to put this pen to rest, though it has served me well for many, many years. I have two of the current 2x0's, so I won't have to buy another.

EDM #116 - Draw Something Green

The scanner just doesn't do as good a job as my camera, but I'm lazy tonight. At least you can see the birdie is green.

EDM #115 - Draw a Shopping Cart

The vehicle shopping carts for children are cute, but I'd hate to be the mom pushing one. At least they keep the kids confined and out of the shopping aisles.

EDM #113 - Draw a Fence

What's on the other side of the fence? Who are the owners, and what are they like? I'm usually curious about these things.

Once I had a boyfriend who would pick me up very early on Saturday mornings to go fishing. We would drive down an old country road. then turn onto a seldom-used, rutted road, open the sagging gate, and drive through the woods until we arrived at a wonderful, large, private lake. Pleasant times.

EDM #112 - Draw Something Fresh

An ocean breeze is always refreshing. When driving from inland to the beach, the scent of upcoming salt and sand is exciting. After a day at the beach, the most refreshing thing is to shower off all the accumulated salt and sand!

This is in a little sketchbook made by using the directions at Nina Johansson's blog. More pictures here. The paper used is a half sheet of Raffine 90# watercolor paper, and the finished size is 3-3/4" x 5-1/2". I was uncomfortable with the bounce of the folds, so I used a two-needle coptic stitch to stabilize the little book. I had never stitched a book before, and it was surprisingly easy. Today I noticed a greeting card that I recently received was about the same size as the little sketchbook. I scored another fold in the card and trimmed one side for a perfect fit as an unattached cover.

My previous post was also done in this sketchbook.

EDM #111 - Draw a Bowl

A couple of these bowls were a gift and have been hanging around my place for many years. They aren't used often, but occasionally they've been perfect for different uses. Now they may be useful when I need to mix a large wash for a watercolor painting.
