EDM #90 - Draw Something with Wings

Non-waterproof ink was used for this drawing, then I attacked it with my Niji waterbrush. I've never used ink this way though I once tested a squiggle line of the ink to see if it would work. Most of the lines were too close together, but it was an interesting exercise. The original is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" but not worth the load time for the full image.

There are two winged fairies on one of the tree roots.

Flowers on Right-Hand Page

It seemed a good idea to draw more flowers across from the flowers I did in the previous post. I tried roses 30-40 years ago and found the petals confusing. They are still confusing, but I didn't worry about it this time.

Watercolor pencils used on this page.

Another Tree

Playing with ink, watercolor pencils, and my super, handy-dandy, Niji waterbrush. I discovered the next day that a tree was also on my EDM challenge list, so I had to do another tree in my EDM Moleskine watercolor book. Still not any good with trees or greenery in general.

Another Building & Fantasy

I tried another building in my Moleskine using ink and watercolor pencil, followed by copies of artwork in a fairy tale book using ink and colored pencil. The easiest part of using watercolor pencils is whipping out the Niji waterbrush!

Trying Watercolor Pencils

Since the sketchbook Moleskine doesn't like watercolors, inexpensive watercolor pencils were tried. I'm not very interested in watercolor pencils, but I will shop for a nicer set.

I'm more interested in watercolors, and three Moleskine watercolor books are on their way. They should arrive the first of next week, and I'll be nice and send my sister one. She, too, is interested in watercolor.

The Moleskine sketchbook will continue to be used for ink, pencil, and colored pencil. I'm trying to do at least one small sketch a day.

While I had the WC pencils out, I tried a few small sketches with them. The pencils did fine. A Niji waterbrush was used. It's a gem of a brush and much handier than regular brushes for these little sketches.
