EDM #110 - Draw a Flame

It's an inexpensive little lamp that holds a tiny votive candle. I keep it because I like it.

The flame is actually yellow with a touch of red, but the scan was fairly close with the blue in the lamp. Another lousy background. I'm very good with lousy backgrounds.

Jenny! This is a charming and beautifully done painting!!! I LOVE the background, hon -- the way it offsets the clear globe of the lamp!! The shadows, the detailing on the lamp -- !!!

Lin's right, Jenny. Nothing wrong with that background, at least the way I see it on my monitor. I love the way you've handled the little lamp.

This is beautiful, I love the shadows and reflections on the blue lamp base.

I love the way the grooves in the lamp morph into the reflected light. Excellent!

Jenny, I actually like this type of background. It seems effortless. What color of blue is this? It's very vivid, and against the white ... it looks stunning. Great sketch :)
